Rating/Response: 5 This book has a fun and playful feel to it.  Not only does it resinate memories of playtime and school work, but is allows students to feel excited about their learning environment.

Reading Strategy: First Day

Rationale for Strategy: This book is a great way to open the year.  It shows students that they had a lot to do to get ready for the first day, but so did their teacher.
