Rating/Response: 4 The illustrations are very cute, and they add a lot to the story.  The plot is interesting, and it teaches a wonderful lesson.

One question you would ask before a read aloud: Have you ever met someone who is different from you?

Reading Strategy: First Days

Rationale for Strategy: This book would be a great way to begin the year.  It is a great introduction to talk about differences and friendship.
